Some Tabcorp customer issues can relate to issues with
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and
Firewalls.
Broadband Access
A number of Customers have raised the issue of the speed of
RaceTAB.com.au via Broadband/ADSL and Dial-Up. Broadband access in Australia ranges from 256Kb/sec to 2,048Kb+/sec. During high volume periods such as weekends and evenings the speed of internet access via Broadband/ADSL can vary. This will affect the speed at which you can access content on RaceTAB.com.au.
Several environmental and operational issues will affect the speed of performance of internet access. For example:-
- If you have used your allocated download quota for the month you may be throttled back to a speed only slightly faster than dial-up. For example, the most popular Telstra BigPond plan decreases access speed from 256Kb/sec to 64Kb/sec once the monthly quota of 200Mb has been reached.
Tabcorp advises Customers to be aware of their quotas and throttle speeds once these limits have been reached.
For more information on throttling and speed control we have included the following links to the specific FAQ pages of some ISPs.

You should consult your ISP directly for more information about their policy on throttling. - There can be situations where a service outage may affect your connection to the Internet. You should consult your ISP's HELP CENTRE should you suspect this may be occurring.
- The "contention rate" or number of customers connected to the same ISP base station as yourself may limit the speed of your connection. Typically at high usgae times such as between 6-8pm (when everyone is getting home) or school holiday periods (when children are more likely to use the internet at home) will result in a reduction of speed for all users to meet the overall demand.
- The distance your residence (Broadband/ADSL connection) is from your local telephone exchange can affect your connection speed. Even if you have subscribed to a very fast plan (512Kb+/sec), the ultimate speed that you achieve can be affected by the distance the signal has to travel to your ADSL exchange.
In all cases you should consult your ISP's HELP CENTRE for more information on circumstances that can affect internet access speeds.
Firewalls & Filtering
If you are using any kind of Firewall or content filtering you will experience a delay in the speed with which content from the Tabcorp Wagering Websites is presented.
It is advised to add the following URL to any exemption list so your firewall or content filtering does not impact performance:
www.tab.com.au
