Speech Express is TAB’s interactive voice recognition service. Using Speech Express, you can place TAB tote, fixed odds, and sports bets
50c minimum per TAB tote bet always applies.
$1 minimum for fixed odds and sports bets.
To use Speech Express:
Call 133 842 and give your TAB account number and 4-digit PIN.
Clearly state your bet (e.g., “Randwick, Race 1, $10 each way, number 1”).
The bet will be repeated back to you and you will be asked “Is this correct?”.
To confirm the bet, say “Yes”, to correct/change the bet say “No”, or to hear the bet again say “Repeat bet” – the bet is not on until you hear “Bet sold”.
Once you hear “Bet sold”, you cannot cancel the bet.
After you have placed all of your bets, say “All bets”, “That's all”, or “Goodbye” and you’ll be given your all bets total. Once you’ve finished, simply hang up.
For a full betting demonstration at any time during a Speech Express call, say “Demonstration”.
For fixed odds bets say “Help”.
Then, say “fixed odds” with your chosen bet type (e.g., “Fixed odds win” or “Fixed odds place”)
There are two ‘call backs’ for fixed odds bets:
The first occurs when the bet is attempted
The second occurs when the bet has been accepted and sold
For fixed odds bets, the system does a price check when the bet is submitted. If the current price is equal to or better than the quoted price, the bet will be placed. Otherwise, the new (lower) price will be quoted.
Have your TAB account number (i.e., the number on the back of your TAB account card) and 4-digit PIN ready.
Avoid background noise.
Don't hold the phone too close to your mouth.
Try to speak clearly and naturally and avoid 'ums' and 'ahs'.
Say your bet in one sentence and try not to pause.
If you need to start your bet again, say “Start again” to go back to the beginning.
If you’re not happy with a bet you’ve placed, say “Cancel”.
