How do I get my identity verification documents certified?

A certified copy must have the original signature of the certifier and a statement from the certifier stating these words:

'I certify this to be a true and accurate copy of the original document as sighted by me on [insert date]'

It must also provide the certifier's full name, qualification, location and contact number.

Who can certify my documents?

I'm not a resident of Australia

New Zealand residents can verify their identity by mailing certified copies of the following documents:

• Two x Tier 1 (primary) Identification documents; or
• One x Tier 1 (primary) Identification document AND One x Tier 2 (Primary) Identification document; AND
• if neither document contains your residential address, you must also provide a certified copy of either:
  • a bank statement,
  • NZ government issued notice, or
  • utility bill, no more than 3 months old, which contains your name and residential address.
