To create TAB account using the TAB app, you need to:
- Be at least 18 years-old – we will report any attempt to open an account by a person under the age of 18 to the relevant authorities.
- Be a resident of Australia or New Zealand.
- Ensure that the details you use to create your account (e.g., your name, date of birth, and residential address) match those on (or connected to) the proof of identity document(s) you use to verify your account.
- Download and install the TAB app – find out how to do this here.
- Select the regulatory jurisdiction that will apply to your account:
Regardless of where you live, you can choose ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS or VIC as the regulatory jurisdiction for your account. The location/regulatory jurisdiction of your account determines the prices, pools and bet types that are available to you and the state/territory regulations that apply to your account. For tote betting:
- NSW betting accounts provide access to the standalone NSW pool
- ACT and VIC betting accounts provide access to the SuperTAB pool
- NT, QLD, SA, and TAS accounts provide access to the UTAB pool.
Important note:Once selected, the regulatory jurisdiction for your account cannot be changed.

Once you’ve downloaded, installed, and opened the TAB app, to begin creating your account:
- Tap ‘Join Now’ on the app’s homescreen.

2. Enter your email address, then tap ‘Continue’.

3. To continue, you’ll need to verify your email address by entering the 6-digit code sent to it. Please note, this code expires 24 hours after you receive it.
Tip! If you haven’t received the email with your 6-digit code after 30 seconds:
- Check your spam/junk folder.
- Check that the email listed is correct (e.g., check that it doesn’t contain any typos/mistakes) – if the email address listed is incorrect, tap the arrow in the top-left corner of the screen to go back and enter the correct email address.
- Tap ‘Resend Email’.

4. Once you’ve successfully verified your email address, select your sign-up method.

5. If you selected ‘Scan Australian Driver’s Licence’, follow the on-screen instructions to scan your driver’s licence. If you selected ‘Sign Up Manually’, enter your personal details on the following screen and tap ‘Next’.
Important note: Make sure the personal details you enter match those on the documentation you will use to verify your identity.

6. If you have a valid Australian driver's licence you can use to verify your identity, enter its details and tap ‘Next’.
Note: If you don’t have an Australian driver’s licence, you’ll need to tap ‘I don’t have a licence’ and skip this step. If you do this, you may need to provide details of other valid identity verification documentation to complete the process of creating an account – find out more about this here.
7. Set a password, account betting PIN, security question and answer, and your betting account location.
Important notes:

Your password must be at least 8 characters long and include at least 1 number.

Your security question and answer should relate to a piece of information that you’ll remember but that would be difficult for other people to guess. Examples of security questions include:
- What is the name of my first pet?
- What street did I grow up on?
- What is my favourite food?
- What is my mother’s maiden name?
Your security question and answer adds another level of security to your account. It also enables you to easily reset your password online without having to contact our Customer Service Team.

Your account PIN allows you to access your account in-venue and over the phone. It can contain numbers only. And, to ensure it is secure:

It must not be your date of birth
-
It must not be made up of the same number repeated (e.g., 1111) or consecutive numbers going up or down (e.g., 1234 or 4321).

The regulatory jurisdiction you select when creating your account cannot be changed.

8. To finish applying for your account, set a deposit limit. If you don’t want to set a deposit limit, tap ‘I don’t want to set a deposit limit’.
If your account application is successful, a confirmation screen that provides you with your account number will appear. If we are unable to verify your identity, the following screen will appear, and you can choose whether to view the ‘self-service’ identity verification option or call customer service.

- Tap ‘Join Now’ on the app’s homescreen.

Important note: If choose to exit and not complete the identity verification process immediately, you’ll need to take note of your unique identifier so you can use it (along with your password) to log in and complete the identity verification process later.

9. Enter the details of your chosen identity verification document (e.g., your Australian passport, Medicare card, or Australian working visa). Then, tap ‘Verify My Identity’.

10. If you successfully verify your identity, a confirmation screen will appear, and you will receive an account number. If we are unable to verify your identity, the following screen will appear, and you can choose whether to view the ‘self-service’ identity verification option or call our Customer Service Team.
