Speed maps are a tool used to help predict the pace of a race and the likely finishing positions of runners. Speed maps are based on data and analysis relating to race runners' past race performance and behaviour. Speed maps work by categorising runners into types that can help punters and bookmakers identify potential race patterns and outcomes.
You can access speed maps from race cards by tapping the ‘
Speed Map’ button under the race name/details.
Our speed map categorises runners into the following types:
On Pace– Runners with good speed out of the barriers and that lead or race near the lead.
Midfield– Runners with moderate early speed that settle 'off pace' and look to finish strongly.
Back Marker – Runners that generally have limited early speed, and that settle at the rear of the field and need to finish powerfully.
First Start – Runners making their first start; no speed data is available for these runners.
Merged Pool Technology (MPT) combines the 'Odds & Evens', 'Quinella', and ‘Trifecta’ tote pools for the same race creating a bigger pool and better dividend/potential pay-out stability

On the TAB app, ‘Flexi’ betting is the default betting option.
‘Flexi’ betting involves placing multiple bets within a single bet type for a fixed total bet cost. ‘Flexi’ betting allows you to set a bet budget for a bet type (e.g., a Quaddie or a Quinella) and to divide it across multiple bets. If you win with the ‘Flexi’ betting option on bet type, you’ll receive a percentage of the full dividend).
In addition to ‘Flexi’ betting, different racing bet types (e.g., ‘Quinellas’, ‘Trifecta’, ‘Exactas’, and ‘Quaddies’) come with different betting options. Depending on the bet type you select for a race (or grouped races), you will have access to one or more of the following betting options.
Boxed– ‘Boxed’ betting involves ‘boxing’ runners in a race to cover all possible combinations for the finishing order.
Multiple/Multi– ‘Multiple/Multi’ betting involves picking more than 1 runner in each leg of a bet. ‘Multiple/Multi’ betting allows for more combinations and can increase your chances of winning. ‘Multiple/Multi’ bets are often referred to as ‘exotics’.
Roving Banker– ‘Roving Banker’ allows you to bet on any finishing position in a race. For example, if you’re confident a runner will finish 5th, you can bet on it using the ‘Roving Banker’ option.
Standard/straight – ‘Standard’ betting involves betting on a single winning combination. For example, 1 runner to come first, 1 runner to come second, and 1 runner to come third.
Standout – ‘Standout’ betting involves selecting a runner (or, in some cases, multiple runners) to finish in a specific place within a First 4 bet, Quinella, Trifecta, Duet, or an Exacta bet.
After you select your bet type, the betting options available to you will appear below the bet type options.
